During San Diego Comic-Con this summer, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that The Multiverse Saga would conclude in Phase 6 with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Since then, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton signed on to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Deadline now reports that a writer is onboard as well.
Jeff Loveness, who recently penned Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has signed on to write Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for Marvel Studios. Not much is known about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at this time, but it’s naturally assumed Kang the Conqueror will be featured in a big way. Jonathan Majors made his MCU debut in the first season of Loki as He Who Remains, but he will be playing the full-fledged Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. As Jeff Loveness penned that film, he’s probably the best person to tackle the character for the Avengers sequel.
Kevin Feige has previously sang Jonathan Majors’ praises and explained how Kang will be a totally different villain from Thanos. “What I love is that he’s totally different from Thanos,” Feige said. “That it’s not just how about there’s a bigger purple guy with a helmet? That’s not what Kang is. Kang is a very different type of villain and the fact that he is many, many different characters is what’s most exciting and most differentiates him.“
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will kick off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it hits theaters on February 17, 2023. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will follow on May 2, 2025, with Avengers: Secret Wars concluding The Multiverse Saga on November 7, 2025. Do you think Jeff Loveness is the best writer for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
