The first reactions to The Flash are racing onto social media, with fans calling the film an action-packed masterpiece of superhero cinema

First reactions to The Flash are quickly racing onto social media. Select members of the press and guests of CinemaCon experienced DC’s latest superhero epic earlier this evening, with the movie garnering some of the most positive reactions I’ve ever seen. Speaking with JoBlo’s Chris Bumbray after the screening, he described the film as “fantastic.” Others in my socials and DMs are screaming, telling me I’m in for the “ride of my life” when the movie hits theaters on June 16, 2023. I’m not jealous. I’m not jealous at all.

While combing Twitter for reactions to the Scarlet Speedster’s latest adventure, I’ve gathered many comments and observations about the Andy Muschietti-directed odyssey into the DCU.

Holy Universal Praise, Batman! The votes are in, folks, and The Flash sounds like a legit masterpiece! As you can see from the tweets above, many say The Flash is a massive step in the right direction for DC. People describe the film as nostalgic, character-driven, and moving, with plenty of mind-blowing action to keep you on the edge of your seat. While I’ve had my doubts about The Flash (given the negative press and moral panic), I’m thrilled to hear the movie is worth the hype.

“Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past,” reads the official synopsis of The Flash. “But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe? “

In addition to Ezra Miller, the cast of The Flash includes Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Antje Traue, Kiesery Clemons, and Ben Affleck. Nothing has been revealed regarding Ezra Miller’s future in the new DC Universe, but James Gunn and Peter Safran are waiting to see how The Flash is received. “Ezra is completely committed to their recovery,” DCU Studios co-CEO Peter Safran said. “We’re fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now. When the time is right, when they feel they are ready to have the discussion, we’ll all figure out what the best way forward is. But right now, they are completely focused on their recovery. And in our conversations with them over the last couple of months, it feels like they’re making enormous progress.”

What do you think about the first reactions to The Flash? Are we about to experience one of the greatest superhero films ever on June 16, 2023? I certainly hope so! Let’s get nuts!
