Lionsgate has released a teaser poster for the upcoming Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

As Hunger Games fans get ready to volunteer as tributes for this year’s installment, Lionsgate has offered up a new teaser poster for the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. You can see the poster below:

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes “follows a young Coriolanus who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates. With everything he has worked for hanging in the balance, Snow unites with Lucy Gray to turn the odds in their favor. Battling his instincts for both good and evil, Snow sets out on a race against time to survive and reveal if he will ultimately become a songbird or a snake.”

The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has a strong cast lined up, with Tom Blyth as Coriolanus Snow (originally played by Donald Sutherland), Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, Hunter Schafer as Tigris Snow (originally played by Eugenie Bondurant in one installment), and Jason Schwartzman Lucretius Flickerman (a relative of Stanley Tucci’s Caesar Flickerman from the first movies). The cast is rounded out by the likes of Peter Dinklage, Viola Davis, Josh Andres Rivera, and Burn Gorman. It will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed all but the first Hunger Games movie.

With just four entries so far, The Hunger Games franchise is one of the highest-grossing ever, having pulled in nearly $1.5 billion domestically. Only time will tell where this fifth installment will rank among its predecessors, with Catching Fire the current leader at $425 million.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes comes to theaters on November 17th, almost eight years to the day since the last Hunger Games installment, Mockingjay – Part 2 was released.

What do you think of the new poster for The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes? Are you looking forward to this Hunger Games prequel?
