Although the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion will bring the Jurassic World trilogy to a close, we certainly haven’t seen the last of the iconic dinosaur franchise. When it comes to who should direct the next Jurassic World sequel, Colin Trevorrow has an idea.
In a Variety feature on Laura Dern, Bryce Dallas Howard, and DeWanda Wise, Jurassic World: Dominion director Colin Trevorrow said that Howard should direct a Jurassic World sequel.
She knows I want that, so I’m not going to pretend. Bryce actually can direct whatever she wants, and if she would ever make that choice to come and make a ‘Jurassic’ movie, we would consider that a tremendous privilege for us.
In response, Bryce Dallas Howard chuckled, “Oh my gosh, Colin actually said that out loud? That is so naughty.” Bryce Dallas Howard is no stranger behind the camera as she has previously directed standout episodes of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. She’s also set to helm a reboot of Flight of the Navigator for Disney+.
Jurassic World producer Frank Marshall has previously confirmed that they will continue the franchise after the release of Dominion.
Jurassic World: Dominion is going to wrap up this trilogy, but we’re not resting on our laurels. We’re going to sit down, and we’re going to see what the future is. We have that wonderful series, Camp Cretaceous, on Netflix. We obviously want to make quality, good movies with great storytelling, great writers and directors, but we’re definitely looking to do more in the Jurassic world.
The new film takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar with dinosaurs now living, and hunting, alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures. Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return, but they’ve also been joined by Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Jurassic World: Dominion will be released on June 10, 2022.
