If you’re hungry for another whodunit in the vein of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, then See How They Run might be just what the pathologist ordered. Searchlight Pictures has released the first trailer for See How They Run, a comedy-mystery film starring Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan.

See How They Run takes place in the West End of 1950s London as world-weary inspector Stoddard (Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Ronan) are tasked with solving the murder of a pivotal member of a smash-hit play. Twists and turns abound, and plenty of jumping to conclusions, but the See How They Run trailer looks like a lot of fun. Tom George directed See How They Run from a screenplay by Mark Chappell. In addition to Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan, the film also stars Adrien Brody, David Oyelowo, Ruth Wilson, Harris Dickinson, Shirley Henderson, Sian Clifford, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Reece Shearsmith, and Charlie Cooper.

The official synopsis for See How They Run:

In the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard and eager rookie Constable Stalker take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit within the glamorously sordid theater underground, investigating the mysterious homicide at their own peril.

See How They Run will be released in theaters on September 30, 2022. That happens be a big month for whodunits, as Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Much like See How They Run, Glass Onion also features an ensemble cast of stars, including Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, and more. Of course, Daniel Craig has reprised the role of Detective Benoit Blanc.
