Scream 6 set for March 2023 theatrical release

[ad_1]

Just yesterday, we heard that the script for Scream 6 has been delivered to franchise star Courteney Cox – and today, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment have announced (via Deadline) that the new sequel is scheduled to reach theatres on March 31, 2023. Just fourteen months after the latest Scream movie, which reached theatres back in January. We knew this sequel was on the fast track as soon as it was given the greenlight last month, as the initial report mentioned that it’s expected to start filming this summer. Cox narrowed it down, saying filming will take place in Canada and is going to begin in June.

Scream 6 is coming to us from the same creative team as this year’s Scream movie. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be directing from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Vanderbilt is producing the film alongside his Project X Entertainment partners Paul Neinstein and William Sherak. Kevin Williamson, writer of the original Scream, serves as executive producer with Chad Villella, Gary Barber, and Peter Oillataguerre.

Cox has played author / reporter Gale Weathers in all five of the Scream movies to date. Neve Campbell, who has played franchise heroine Sidney Prescott in all of the movies, has been asked to return for the new sequel, but she’s waiting to read the script before she decides whether to sign on or not.

The latest Scream is now streaming on the Paramount Plus service, and a 4K UHD digital version can be purchased at THIS LINK. The physical media release date is April 5th, and Amazon is accepting pre-orders. The DVD can be pre-ordered HERE, you can get the Blu-ray HERE, and the 4K UHD disc is HERE. Scream (2022) will also be receiving a double feature release where it’s packaged with the original Scream from 1996. You can get the double feature on Blu-ray HERE and on 4K UHD at THIS LINK.

Are you glad to hear that Scream 6 is only one year away?
