Back in 2018, [REC] franchise co-creator Paco Plaza‘s horror movie Veronica was released through the Netflix streaming service – and quickly earned a reputation for being so terrifying that Netflix subscribers would have to stop the movie mid-stream because they couldn’t handle the scariness. It has taken four years, but Netflix has finally announced that we’re going to be getting another movie set in the world of Veronica. The new movie is called Sister Death, and it’s a prequel.

Our friends at Bloody Disgusting were able to find a plot synopsis on the TerrorActo Twitter account:

In post-war Spain, Narcisa, a novice with supernatural powers, arrives at an old convent converted into a girls’ school to become a teacher. As the days go by, strange events and the increasingly disturbing situations that torment her will end up leading her to unravel the terrible skein of secrets that surround the convent and lie in wait for its inhabitants.

The screenplay for the prequel has been written by Jorge Guerricaechevarria, who frequently works with popular genre filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia.

They didn’t exactly strike while the iron was hot getting Sister Death off the ground, so I don’t have any memory of Veronica at this point. I watched that thing four years ago! All I remember was that I had no problem making it through the whole running time without being scared out of my wits. Apparently there was a character called Sister Death (or Hermana Muerte) in Veronica, and she was played by Consuelo Trujillo.

Aria Bedmar, Almudena Amor and Maru Valdivielso star in Sister Death, with Bedmar taking on the role of Narcisa.

Were you a fan of Veronica, and are you looking forward to the prequel Sister Death? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
