O dramaturgo vencedor do Prêmio Pulitzer de 2022, James Ijames, fala no André Callioux Center para o We Will Dream New Works Festival.

James Ijames é um dramaturgo vencedor do Prêmio Pulitzer, diretor e educador.

As peças de James foram produzidas pela Flashpoint Theatre Company, Orbiter 3, Theatre Horizon, Wilma Theatre, Theatre Exile, Azuka Theatre (Filadélfia, PA), The National Black Theatre, JACK, The Public Theatre (NYC), Hudson Valley Shakespeare Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Definition Theatre, Timeline Theatre (Chicago IL) Shotgun Players (Berkeley, CA) e receberam desenvolvimento com PlayPenn New Play Conference, The Lark, Playwright’s Horizon, Clubbed Thumb, Villanova Theatre, Wilma Theatre, Azuka Theatre e Victory Garden.

James recebeu o Prêmio F. Otto Haas de 2011 para Artista Emergente e dois Prêmios Barrymore de Melhor Direção de Peça para The Brothers Size com Simpatico Theatre Company e Gem of the Ocean com Arden Theatre. James é um Pew Fellow for Playwriting de 2015, o vencedor de 2015 do Terrance McNally New Play Award por WHITE, o vencedor do Prêmio de Menção Honrosa Kesselring de 2015 por ….Miz Martaganhador do Prêmio Whiting em 2017, Prêmio Kesselring de 2019 por Kill Move Paradise, Prêmio Steinberg de 2020 e 2022 e ganhador do Prêmio Pulitzer de Drama de 2022.

James foi membro fundador do Orbiter 3, o primeiro coletivo de produção de dramaturgos da Filadélfia.

Ele recebeu um BA em Drama da Morehouse College em Atlanta, GA e um MFA em Atuação da Temple University em Filadélfia, PA. James, professor associado de teatro na Villanova University. Ele reside no sul da Filadélfia.

Between those careers, he’s worked as a deckhand, commercial fisherman, divemaster, taxi driver, construction manager, and over the road truck driver, among many other things. He now lives on a sea island, in the South Carolina Lowcountry, with his wife and youngest daughter. They also have three grown children, five grand children, three dogs and a whole flock of parakeets. Stinnett grew up in Melbourne, Florida and has also lived in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and Cozumel, Mexico. His next dream is to one day visit and dive Cuba.
