A number of cast members from Parks and Rec joined the SAG-AFTRA picket line, offering a welcome throwback amid the strike.

Parks and Rec

Pawnee has taken on Hollywood, as cast members of Parks and Recreation teamed up to join the picket line amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. L’il Sebastian even helped the Parks and Rec team say (K)nope to the AMPTP!

Major Parks and Rec cast members included Adam Scott (Ben Wyatt), Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson), Aubrey Plaza (April Ludgate), Jim O’Heir (Jerry/Garry Gergich), Retta (Donna Meagle), and Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio Saperstein), while those that played smaller characters – Alison Becker (Shauna Malwae-Tweep), Colton Dunn (Brett), Kirk Fox (Sewage Joe), Joe Mande (Morris Lerpiss), Susan Yeagley (Jessica Wicks), and Allan McLeod (Trodd Frankensteip) also turned up. Even Sam Elliott, who turned 79 just a couple days before and played Ron Swanson’s Eagleton rival in three episodes, made an appearance. Schwartz shared a few photos on social media:

While L’il Sebastian proved to be a hit with onlookers and fellow picketers, the signs from the Parks and Rec cast were also top-notch, referencing their characters and the shows. Retta’s read, “I sold that little red thing for health insurance”, while Plaza’s went, “Ann Perkins works for the AMPTP”, referencing her undying disdain for Rashida Jones’ character. Other than Jones, the most notable missing Parks and Rec residents were Amy Poehler (guess this isn’t quite her idea of a reboot), Chris Pratt, Aziz Ansari, and Rob Lowe, who literally would have had a great sign to go along with his castmates. The cast of Parks and Rec reunited before for a fundraiser during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It’s not only nice to see how the Parks and Rec cast came together in the name of the good fight, but the gang was giving it back in other ways, too, urging fellow picketers to “Treat yo self!” with free coffee, tea and more. Unfortunately, they did not sing “5,000 Candles in the Wind” – perhaps because the picket took place in an alternate universe where L’il Sebastian isn’t in heaven and can gallop on through the streets of Los Angeles.

Which cast would you like to see reunite on the SAG-AFTRA picket line? Give us your pick below!
