The next Tekken game was teased at Evo 2022 after the finals of the Tekken 7 tournament.

After announcing another balancing update for the current game on August 17 and dating the Tekken World Tourgrand finals in Amsterdam next year, the Tekken video showed footage from the first Tekken. It then showed a new render of Kazyua Mishima, which is substantially more detailed than the current Tekken 7 visual. While it initially looked like it might be a remake of the first Tekken,  the character has scars that wouldn’t fit chronologically. Thus making it seem more likely that it is a Tekken 8 teaser trailer instead.

The video ends with telling fans to “get ready.” The official account for The Game Awards also tweeted it out, potentially teasing a December reveal, although the global finals of the Tekken World Tour would also be a natural announcement spot in February 2023. Either way, Bandai Namco is clearly looking to continue the Tekken series soon.

Producer Katsuhiro Harada didn’t clarify the teaser after the trailer aired. Harada simply came to the commentator’s desk, shook them around as they jumped in excitement, and left without answering questions.
