HBO Max watchers are in for a treat in the first week of June as the streaming service is adding new exciting content to its lineup. Starting on June 6, the much-anticipated Irma Vep limited series will make its debut. Olivier Assayas’ thriller story is the remake of his 1996 film of the same name. It features star Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider, The Danish Girl) portraying an actress joining a limited series remake of the French silent film classic Les VampiresIrma Vep premiered at the recent Cannes Film Festival, and critics have positively received it. Additionally, hardcore sci-fi fans will have the chance to watch Season 13 of the fan-favorite British series Doctor Who, the last one featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor.

Superhero series fans will be treated with Naomi, the first season — and likely the last, since the series hasn’t been renewed — of the live-action adaptation of the comic book series of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker. The series hits HBO Max on June 10.

By the end of the week, The Card Counter will be available. Paul Schrader’s drama premiered at last year’s Venice International Film Festival. The cast features Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, and Willem Dafoe.
