A recent report from Toy World magazine hints that a brand-new, AAA game featuring the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could be coming out in the near future.

The latest issue of the magazine (via Fanbyte) has a section in it that discusses the upcoming Brand Licensing London convention, an event that sees a variety of brands coming together to show off their plans. The magazine mentions that Paramount’s plans for the show include discussing an upcoming AAA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, which will reportedly come out in 2023.

Of course, there’s no official information out on the title or what it might be just yet, but it would be a bit away from the recent norm if it turns out to be true. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has shied away from high-budget AAA titles in recent years, with developers instead often sticking to mobile-focused or more arcade-based experiences. The last big console TMNT game was PlatinumGames’ TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan, which was widely panned when it was released in 2016 with some of the studio’s lowest-rated review scores.

However, due to the boom in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles popularity over the past couple of years, and with a brand-new movie — Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem — set to release in 2023, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Paramount try and capitalize on the excitement with a more ambitious game.

The announcement also comes just after Paramount released another game based on the iconic group of turtles, as the compilation game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection recently came out at the end of August, featuring a handful of games starring the crime-fighting heroes in a half-shell.
