Bruckheimer recently participated in a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread and was asked about the possibility of working with actor Nicolas Cage again. The legendary producer then revealed that the pair are actively working on a script for a third National Treasure.

“Absolutely. I love Nicolas, he’s a brilliant actor and we are currently working on a script for National Treasure,” said Bruckheimer.

If Bruckheimer is able to get a third film made, it would be a huge resurgence for the series, which is also receiving a Disney+ series that is set within the same universe as the original films. The last film to come out in the action-adventure series, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, was released in 2007. It was a massive success, earning over $450 million at the box office despite receiving mixed reviews.
