The first reactions for Moon Knight have started to pop up as critics have been sent screeners for the latest Marvel Disney+ series and some are calling it the best MCU show to date.
The series doesn’t premiere until March 30, 2022, but these early reactions should get fans pumped for its arrival. Our very own Alex Maidy said “I have seen the first four episodes and it is dark, violent, and very funny. Oscar Isaac is stellar and Ethan Hawke is terrifying. Not a traditional origin story but also unlike any other @MarvelStudios series to date.” Sab Astley of Collider also said Oscar Isaac is the “best addition to the MCU since RDJ [Robert Dowey Jr.]” You can check out some of the Twitter reactions below!
Per the official synopsis for the show, “The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life. Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.”
The Moon Knight series was first announced in August of 2019 and Mohamed Diab was chosen to lead the directing team. Diab directed the first four episodes of the series while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were chosen to direct the other two. Filming began in late April 2021 in Budapest, followed by production in Jordan, which concluded in early October before moving to Atlanta, Georgia.
Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, Ethan Hawke, and May Calamawy. Mohamed Diab and the team of Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead directed the episodes. Jeremy Slater is the head writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Mohamed Diab, Jeremy Slater, and Oscar Isaac are the executive producers.
