CinemaCon heads into its final day of presentations by inviting Paramount Pictures to the main stage. With an outstanding slate of features ready to make 2023 a year to remember at cinemas, the studio is proud to share more details for the highly-anticipated sequel Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

During the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One portion of the showcase, Paramount confirmed the movie is moving to July 12, 2023. The studio also revealed Esai Morales is the main villain. He appears to play an IMF agent who was a contemporary of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). He wants revenge for something that happened, and he’s after Hunt and his team.

In the footage shown at CinemaCon, Ethan and his team fight Morales’ character on a train. The scene includes a zero-gravity battle, which is positively insane. JoBlo’s Chris Bumbray thinks this could be one of the greatest action movies ever.

Twenty minutes of footage from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One screened at CinemaCon. If you don’t want to know anything about the film, do not read the next section of this article. That was your warning!

The footage opens in Rome and sets up Hayley Atwell’s character. Italian police arrest her for a laundry list of crimes. She says it’s a mistake and that she’s a school teacher from Brighton. She’s lying. She’s a con woman with a key Esai Morales wants. She passes the key to someone else, someone unwitting. Luckily, her “lawyer” is there. The lawyer is Ethan Hunt. However, Morales’ character is also there.

The scene transitions into a massive car chase with Cruise and Atwell handcuffed to one another. She’s driving, but Hunt does all kinds of stuff with the stick shift and steering wheel. Eventually, Cruise ends up in the driver’s seat. There’s no CGI, real cars, and carnage galore! The duo ends up at a broken-down flat equipped for agents. Pom Klementieff plays Morales’ bench woman and is chasing Atwell and Cruise in a massive police Humvee.

The movie sports a cast including Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, and Mark Gatiss. Christopher McQuarrie returns to write and direct after helming Rogue Nation and the massively praised Fallout entries. Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie also partner up as producers with executive producers David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Tommy Gormley.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One releases on July 12, 2023.
