If film and television have taught me anything, prisoners are unpredictable on the best of days. You never know what could set them off, despite prisons being a hotbed of racism, abuse, and mental torture. It would be a shame if the prisoners staged a riot. Oh, wait. That’s what’s happening in the Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 teaser trailer. Grab your gear and say a prayer because we’re going in!

Parmount+ let a Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 teaser trailer out of its cell today, featuring Jeremy Renner’s Mike McLusky reflecting on life after a prison riot disrupts any semblance of order in his line of work. Parmount+ today announced the second season of the original drama series would debut on Sunday, January 15, exclusively on the streaming service in the U.S. and Canada and the following day in the U.K. and Australia.

From co-creator and Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Mich., where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling the themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town with neither. The series also stars Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Aidan Gillen.

The Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 teaser trailer previews the latest addition to Taylor Sheridan’s universe of series on Paramount+. Other projects under Sheridan’s instruction include Tulsa King starring Sylvester Stallone, Bass ReevesLioness, and Land Man. Sheridan has new Yellowstone episodes and a prequel series starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren called 1923 happening as well.

Do you think Renner’s McLusky will weather the ongoing storm of prisoners in the new season? What happens when order devolves into chaos and control of the situation is lost? We’ll find out when Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown returns to Paramount+ in January.
