Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb has signed on to helm Skydance’s long-in-development Bermuda Triangle movie.
Marc Webb, best known for helming The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, has signed on to direct the long-in-development Bermuda Triangle movie at Skydance Media.
The Bermuda Triangle is a region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships have disappeared under mysterious circumstances over the centuries. The theories behind these disappearances range from plausible explanations, such as extreme weather and currents, to the paranormal, with everything from UFOs to parallel universes to technology from the lost city of Atlantis taking the blame. Plenty of possibilities for a movie.
The Bermuda Triangle movie has been in development at Skydance for quite some time, with Sam Raimi and Scott Derrickson both attached to direct the project at various points. However, it seems that the project has gone back to square one. Deadline reports the project is still in the early stages with no writer attached. That will be the case until the WGA strike is resolved. Once development is able to proceed, Marc Webb will consult with the writer on the Bermuda Triangle script but isn’t expected to co-write. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, with Aimee Rivera overseeing the project.
Before Mark Webb finds himself lost in the Bermuda Triangle, his next project to be released is Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The remake stars Rachel Zegler in the title role, alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, and Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, a new character created for the film. There seems to have been a backlash against the remake since it was first announced, from the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White to the removal of almost all the dwarf characters. The son of the original movie’s director even said that Walt Disney and his father would be “turning in their graves” over the project.
Snow White will hit theaters on March 22, 2024.
