Madame Web, release date

We’ll have to wait a little longer before we’re introduced to Madame Web. The Sony Pictures film was previously slated to hit theaters on July 7, 2023, but the studio announced today that the release of Madame Web would be pushed back to October 6, 2023.

Dakota Johnson will star in Madame Web, which follows a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see other’s paths along the “web of life.” In the comics, the character has traditionally been depicted as an elderly blind woman suffering from a chronic neuromuscular disease that hinders her moment and respiratory functions. As a byproduct of her condition, Madame Web remains connected to a life support system that looks like a spider’s web. Johnson will star alongside Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahir Rahim, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott. S.J. Clarkson will direct the film based on a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

In addition to shifting the release date of Madame Web, Sony Pictures also pushed an untitled Marvel Universe title from October 6, 2023 to June 7, 2024. It’s unknown exactly which film this will be, but the studio is cooking up plenty of movies in their corner of the Marvel Universe. After Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the franchise grew to include Jared Leto’s Morbius earlier this year. The next addition will be Kraven the Hunter. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the iconic Spider-Man foe, but we should expect a few changes to the character. The studio has also tapped Bad Bunny to star in El Muerto, about a wrestler with superhuman strength. There’s also another Venom sequel in the works as well; that’s a lot of Spider-Man films without Spider-Man.
