Percy Jackson

It can’t be easy passing the torch–or the trident–after playing the role you’re most known for. But former Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman is handling it with grace, praising the incoming Walker Scobell.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Logan Lerman–who played the title character in both 2010’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters–said “the kid’s really talented.” While he may be a catch, Logan Lerman did have some sage advice for being a young actor. “The only advice I can give him is just to enjoy it while you’re doing it…I think when you’re young, at least when I was younger [playing Percy Jackson], you almost forget to enjoy it as you’re a part of it. I really enjoyed it while I was doing it. Just take each second in and enjoy the newness of what you’re doing and being a part of something like that. That would be the only thing I would tell him.”

Walker Scobell will take over the role of the demigod Percy Jackson (son of Greek god Posiedon and mere mortal Sally Jackson) for the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Author and creator Rick Riordan serves as a producer and co-wrote the pilot episode.

This is promising for both fans and Riordan himself, who has been open in his disdain for the movie adaptations, previously saying, “It’s my life’s work going through a meat grinder.” With more of a say in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, hopefully it will better suit the author. Even still, the movies were a hit with global audiences, with both pulling in a collective $426 million worldwide.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians is still a long way away from debuting, as it’s currently slated to air on Disney+ in 2024.

Logan Lerman appeared in last year’s Bullet Train, while Walker Scobell appeared opposite Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project.
