Kojima Productions is celebrating its seventh anniversary in a brand-new studio. And to commemorate the occasion, Hideo Kojima himself spoke about the team’s past as well as its future, saying that he wanted to reveal his next game and some “visual projects” in 2023.

Kojima’s short celebratory video started with him thanking fans for their support before moving onto Death Stranding 2, which he promised will be a more amazing “overall gaming experience” when compared to the first one. He then touched on a “completely new game” and some “visual projects,” and stated that he hoped to share more in 2023.

His “completely new game” is likely the one he announced in a partnership with Xbox. It’s also possible that this is the same game as Overdose, the widely reported horror game that allegedly leaked a few times in 2022. Given the mystique surrounding both, it’s currently hard to tell if the Overdose is the Xbox game or something else entirely.

Kojima’s “visual projects” is similarly cloudy. There is a Death Stranding movie in the works, which could be what he is referring to. Kojima Productions also opened up a multimedia studio in Los Angeles in November 2021 that is expanding into film, TV, and music.

The other parts of the seventh anniversary celebration include a hype trailer and a tour of Kojima Productions’ new studio that’s narrated by legendary voice actor Akio Otsuka. Otsuka is famous for playing a wide variety of roles in Japan including Jigen Daisuke in Lupin III, All For One in My Hero Academia, and Batou in Ghost in the Shell. He’s also famous known for his characters in Kojima’s games, too, as he’s been various Snakes in the Metal Gear Solid games and Die-Hardman in Death Stranding.
