Ted Lasso star Juno Temple has landed a leading role in Venom 3, the upcoming sequel starring Tom Hardy.

Juno Temple, Venom 3

Deadline has reported that Juno Temple is in negotiations to star alongside Tom Hardy in Venom 3. It’s not known who Temple would be playing in the Venom sequel, but she should make a fun addition to the franchise.

According to Tom Hardy, pre-production on Venom 3 began in February. Kelly Marcel, who wrote Venom: Let There Be Carnage and co-wrote the first film with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, will take over directing duties for Venom 3. She also wrote the screenplay based on a story she developed with Tom Hardy.

Ruben Fleischer helmed the first Venom movie, while Andy Serkis took the reins for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Although Serkis was down to return for Venom 3, he wound up being too busy with his other projects. “I’ve got so many projects that I was just about to [work on], like ‘Animal Farm‘ for instance,” Serkis said. “We were just about to go into production with that, and then we delayed as ‘Venom‘ came up. I really have to be very on top of the ones that I’ve been building to do for such a long time. But I’m really delighted that Kelly’s doing that. She’s so in control of that material with Tom. The pair of them are such a great team to work with. I’m really excited to see what they’re going to come up with.

Juno Temple is hot off the success of Ted Lasso, which is in the midst of its third and final season. Temple plays Keeley Jones, an ambitious model who becomes the club’s manager of marketing and public relations, before starting her own firm. Her performance on the series has earned Emmy and SAG nominations for the last two years.

Ted Lasso has proven to be a critically acclaimed and much-loved series for Apple TV+, but co-creator Jason Sudeikis knew that ending the series with three seasons was for the best. “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,” Sudeikis said. “The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet—that being Season 3—it’s flattering. Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.” You can check out a review of Ted Lasso season 3 from our own Alex Maidy right here.
