Game of Thrones, Jon Snow, spinoff, Kit Harington

Despite the divisive reaction to the final season, HBO has a lot more Game of Thrones in the works. The latest series was revealed just last week when it was reported that Kit Harington would reprise the role of Jon Snow for a spinoff. According to Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, the idea originated from Kit Harington himself.

George R.R. Martin confirmed that a Jon Snow spinoff was in the works on his blog, saying it’s going by the working title of Snow. The author added that Snow has been in the works just as long as the other Game of Thrones spinoffs in development have; it just hasn’t leaked until now. Emilia Clarke had mentioned that Kit Harington originated the idea while speaking with the BBC, which Martin confirmed.

It seems as though Emilia Clarke has already mentioned that SNOW was Kit’s idea in a recent interview.   So that part is out.  Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us.   I cannot tell you the names of the writers/ showrunners, since that has not been cleared for release yet… but Kit brought them in too, his own team, and they are terrific.

Martin also confirmed that he’s involved in the Jon Snow spinoff series, just as he is with the others, and that he’s already been working with Kit Harington’s team. The last time we saw Jon Snow, he had been sent into exile and left with the Wildlings to the lands north of the Wall. It’s presumed that the series will pick up where Game of Thrones left off, which could mean that other characters who survived the series might also appear.

Before we return to the story of Jon Snow, the release of the first Game of Thrones spinoff series is just two months away. House of the Dragon will debut on August 21, 2022.
