Wednesday, Lady Gaga, Jenna Ortega

Now that Wednesday has been renewed for a second season, could Lady Gaga have a part to play? The show has become one of Netflix’s most-watched series of all-time, likely helped along the way with the viral TikTok dance trend, which found fans replicating Jenna Ortega’s dance in the series to Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary.

While on the red-carpet for the 80th Golden Globes Awards, Jenna Ortega was asked for her thoughts on Lady Gaga possibly joining the cast of Wednesday for the second season. “I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega said. “I think Mrs. Thornhill and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.

Jenna Ortega also told a little story about an interaction she had with Lady Gaga years ago, which felt all the more surreal once Gaga got involved in the Wednesday TikTok trend. “You know what’s funny [with] Lady Gaga?” Ortega said. “A long time ago, I worked with a hairdresser that used to work with her, and I’d just seen Lady Gaga in concert in Boston a couple of years before, and she’d made me a video saying, ‘Hey Jenna, I heard you’re a fan.’ It was a really sweet video. I doubt she had any idea who I was back then, but to see her do [the Wednesday dance on TikTok] now, it’s one of those moments you acknowledge life changes really fast. It’s crazy.

In response to Wednesday being renewed for a second season, co-showrunner Miles Millar and Alfred Gough said, “It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world. We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into season 2.” As for what the new season has in store for us, Millar has teased that it will present a “whole new mystery” now that the first season arc is complete.

Would you like to see Lady Gaga take on a role in the second season of Wednesday?
