Emotions run high for Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in the new Shrinking trailer for Apple’s new comedic drama series.

Are you ready to get up close and personal with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford? In the new Shrinking trailer, emotions run deep as a grieving therapist explores ways to mend a broken heart. Written by Ted Lasso executive producer Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), and Segel, the comedic drama features Ford in one of his first significant television roles. Shrinking will premiere globally with the first two episodes on Friday, January 27, on Apple TV+, followed by one new episode every Friday.

In the Shrinking trailer, we follow a grieving therapist, James (played by Segel), who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making massive, tumultuous changes to people’s lives. As the barriers between patient and therapist start to crumble, James rekindles connections he thought were lost and begins taking steps towards a better, healthier outlook on life and loss.

Christa Miller (ScrubsCougar Town), Jessica Williams (BooksmartLove Life), Michael Urie (Ugly BettyMode After Hours), Luke Tennie (PlayersDeadly Class), and Lukita Maxwell (GenerationLucky Fish) also star.

The new series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer serve as executive producers. Lawrence, Segel, and Goldstein created the series and wrote the first episode, which Ponsoldt directed.

No one can be certain about how losing someone will affect them. It can take years to sort through complicated emotions to arrive on a healthy path toward healing. Therapists are there to help, but at the end of the day, they’re people too. In Shrinking, we discover what happens when personal loss affects professionalism, leading to outrageous situations, deep talks, and interventions from loved ones.

I loved Segel’s Dispatches From Elsewhere and am excited to watch Shrinking when it comes to Apple TV+ on January 27. Do you think Segel and Ford will have interesting chemistry in this series? Will Shrinking inspire others to seek professional help for their troubles? We’ll find out soon enough.
