Jason Momoa teases his future with the DC Universe, says he’ll always be Aquaman and nobody is coming in and taking s–t from him.

Jason Momoa, Aquaman

Although James Gunn and Peter Safran haven’t unveiled their complete plans for the DC Universe, it’s clear that we’ve seen the last of certain actors in DC roles. One actor who seems to be sticking around is Jason Momoa, who has played Aquaman in various DC movies… but will he continue to play the role?

While speaking with Variety, Jason Momoa referred to his recent meeting with DC Studios. “It was very very wonderful,” Momoa said. “I’m in the house of Warner Bros., and they’re liking a lot of stuff I’m doing. We’ve got a lot of good things coming.” Momoa then commented on rumours that he will be recast as Aquaman following the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. “I’ll always be Aquaman,” Momoa added. “The rumors are… I’ll always be Aquaman. Ain’t anyone coming in there and taking sh-t. And then, there might be some other characters too. I can play other things too. I can be funny and savage and charming, once in a while.

Jason Momoa could just be saying that he will always be Aquaman in the same way that Christopher Reeve will always be Superman or Sean Connery will always be James Bond; it’s a landmark role that will stick with him throughout his career. There have also been frequent rumours, which Momoa himself has fed, that the actor will be playing Lobo in the new DC Universe, and “funny, savage, and charming” does fit the bill for Lobo. The actor was certainly quite excited after meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, saying he “got some really good news” about his future with the studio.

In addition to Jason Momoa as Aquaman, the upcoming Aquaman sequel also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Amber Heard as Mera. We don’t know too much about the film, only that it will find Aquaman forging an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally in a bid to save Atlantis and the rest of the planet. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on December 25th.

Do you think we’ll see more of Jason Momoa as Aquaman?
