James Gunn took to social media on Saturday to address his future, adding more context to recent comments the director made in.

After replying to a fan on Twitter by saying that there were “presently no characters at either Marvel or DC” that he would want to work on that he isn’t already, many took that to believe that Gunn was hinting that he had done all he wanted to do in the world of comic books. However, Gunn took to Twitter to address the comments, simply noting that he has a lot of projects in the works, and that he is not speaking of things years down the road.

“Well… what is said was ‘There are presently no characters at either Marvel or DC that I want to be working with right now that I am not,’” said Gunn in his tweet. “And yes I know it’s either obtuse or linguistically Olympian depending on your point-of-view. Whatever the case, I’m currently working on a lot of projects, including a few unknown to the general public, & I’m speaking for where I am right this moment, not tomorrow or next year or five years down the line.”

In his messages, Gunn also revealed that he was working on a variety of projects, a few of which are currently unknown to the public. With that in mind, it’s safe to assume Gunn has a lot on his plate, and likely has no plans to abruptly stop. Up next for Gunn is the Disney+ Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which will be followed up by his return to theaters in the form of 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn is also a writer on the upcoming Coyote vs. Acme film.
