Henry Thomas phones home about belief in alien life

H.T. Phone Home! E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial actor Henry Thomas, who played Elliott in the beloved classic, has made his case in the oft-debated question, Is there alien life?

According to Henry Thomas, yes, there most certainly is life other than our mere Earthling existence. “I believe in other life out there…for sure…The odds of a single cell organism existing somewhere else are pretty high.” Now, the odds on one of those aliens landing on Earth, moving into our bedroom and getting tipsy on Coors Light is another matter altogether.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, Henry Thomas also elaborated on other E.T. deets, also saying how “comforting” it is that people still watch the film and want to know its secrets. Some behind-the-scenes details briefly touched on included shooting the movie mostly in chronological order to enhance the relationships of the cast and to make the farewell more emotional; hearing E.T. line’s delivered by grown men just off camera; and the trouble with calling someone “penis breath.” Henry Thomas also noted that he regrettably did not keep a single prop–not even a walkie-talkie?!

E.T. marked its 40th anniversary this past summer. As part of the celebration, the film has been made available for somehow an even wider audience–even though it’s cited as one of the most viewed movies ever–including an IMAX release in August.

It will also be getting a special 40th anniversary home video release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital, which “showcases over 45 minutes of all-new bonus features including a retrospective of the film and its lasting legacy…[in addition to] all the original bonus features including deleted scenes, cast and filmmaker reunion, a discussion with John Williams about the iconic music from the film, and more.”

Do you agree or disagree with Henry Thomas? Is there indeed alien life out there?
