The Flash will introduce a new Kryptonian to the DC Universe: Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El. The Flash actress told Entertainment Weekly that although she doesn’t get to share the screen with Henry Cavill, the former Superman actor did give her his seal of approval.

Yes, I met him,” Sasha Calle said. “I met him actually after the movie was done, months later. I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.” Calle continued, “I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’ And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world, because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.

After making his all-too-brief return as Superman in the Black Adam post-credit scene, Henry Cavill announced that he would be back as the Man of Steel. Unfortunately, that didn’t last long as James Gunn and Peter Safran had other plans for the new DC Universe that involved a new actor playing the role. However, Henry Cavill did shoot a cameo for The Flash, but it was reportedly cut from the movie.

The first screening of The Flash took place at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last month and our own Chris Bumbray was in attendance. “Believe the hype folks – truly one of the great superhero movies,” Bumbray wrote in his first reaction. “Ezra Miller (x2), Sasha Calle and MICHAEL KEATON. It’s pretty perfect and one of the best films of this type you could ever hope to see.” You can check out more first reactions right here.

Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past,” reads the official synopsis of The Flash. “But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?

The Flash will hit theaters on June 16th.
