In honor of the anniversary of Bruce Lee’s death, the legendary martial artist’s daughter Shannon Lee took to Twitter to confirm that production on the highly-anticipated third season of the martial arts drama Warrior is finally set to begin this July 18.

This comes less than two years after the Andrew Koji-led series ended its 10-episode second season run on Cinemax. The upcoming third season of Warrior is now expected to make its debut on HBO Max.

Based on the writings of martial arts legend Lee, the gritty, action-packed crime drama is created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) via his Tropper Ink Productions label, and is set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century.

“It follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances,” reads the synopsis. “After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hop Wei, one of Chinatown’s most powerful Tongs (Chinese organized crime family). Season two follows rival Chinatown Tongs as they fight for dominance amidst the growing anti-Chinese fervor that threatens to destroy them all.”

The cast for the series is led by Andrew Koji alongside Kerian Bew, Celine Buckens, Olivia Cheng, Dianne Doan, Dean Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Maria-Elena Laas, Hoon Lee, Christian McKay, Dustin Nguyen, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Joe Taslim, Jason Tobin, Joanna Vanderham, Tom Weston-Jones, and Perry Yung.

The first two seasons are now available to stream on HBO Max.
