Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are back! HBO Max has released the new season 3 teaser trailer for Harley Quinn, the hit DC adult animated comedy series. The trailer picks up with Harley and Ivy returning to Gotham City as the newest power couple of DC villainy. Along with the various heroes and villains peppered throughout the fast-paced trailer is none other than James Gunn, writer/director of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

James Gunn took to Twitter to say he’s “beyond excited for the new season of #HarleyQuinn on @HBOMax, and it’s not only because I’m on it.” Kaley Cuoco, who voices Harley Quinn, told TVLine earlier this year that the new season is “great, it’s ridiculous, it gets more and more insane.” And as you can probably tell by the teaser trailer, season 3 will focus on the relationship between Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. “They are living life, loving each other, fighting…,” Cuoco said. “Their relationship is the main focal point of this season, and it’s hilarious and actually really, really sweet.” The new season will also introduce Nightwing, who will be voiced by Harvey Guillén (What We Do In the Shadows).

The official synopsis for Harley Quinn season 3:

The mayhem and madness continue in season three of this biting and uproarious adult animated comedy series. Wrapping up their “Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour,” Harley Quinn (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) – “Harlivy” strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

Harley Quinn season 3 will premiere on July 28th with three episodes, followed by one episode weekly through to September 15th.
