In a little over a week, Kratos and Atreus will journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as they prepare for the prophesied battle that will end the world. Of course, I’m speaking of God of War Ragnarök, the upcoming PlayStation video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. With its themes of building a stronger bond as father and son, PlayStation has released a new God of War commercial featuring Ben Stiller, John Travolta, and LeBron James, who can relate all too well with how tough parenting can be.

The God of War commercial features Ben Stiller in full Kratos mode leading a parent’s support group. “Putting on the Kratos beard and makeup felt very empowering,” Stiller said of the commercial. “The war paint really is useful in terms of letting people know you mean business. I found the beard made me feel wiser…though [my son] Quin didn’t seem to feel that at all.” LeBron James added, “Something about having the Leviathan Axe in your hand transports you to a different world. We all play the games on the screen, but being able to bring those moments to life and connect in a different way is a pretty cool thing.” Not to be left out, John Travolta said, “Similar to Kratos and Atreus, the balance of ‘holding on and letting go’ is a dynamic many parents can relate to. There’s no better feeling than seeing your child grow and mature into the best versions of themselves.

While Ben Stiller may not be playing Kratos again, God of War fans will get to see the character make the leap to live-action as Amazon Studios are developing a TV series based on the best-selling franchise. God of War Ragnarök will be released on PS5 and PS4 on November 9th.
