Author George R.R. Martin has given fans an update on what to expect from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel and what the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight episode count will be.
In a recent blog post, Martin said that he couldn’t really say too much about the show, but did note that the show’s title is not set in stone as of yet. However, Martin said the series wouldn’t be called “Tales of Dunk & Egg,” “The Adventure of Dunk & Egg,” “Dunk & Egg,” or anything like that. The reason is because without knowing the characters, it sounds too much like a sitcom, and they want the word “knight” in the title as it’s central to the story.
Aside from that, Martin did note what The Hedge Knight episode count would likely be. According to the author, the first season will likely run for six episodes, although that also isn’t set in stone, “and won’t be until considerably later in the process.”
Finally, Martin also revealed that the premiere season would be an adaptation of the first of Martin’s three novellas about Dunk & Egg, The Hedge Knight.
“Our premiere season will be an adaptation of the first of the three published novellas, The Hedge Knight, the tale of how Dunk & Egg first met during a tournament at Ashford Meadow,” said Martin. “The pilot script is already written, and I think it’s terrific. It was written by Ira Parker, who is no stranger to Westeros. He was part of Ryan Condal’s writing staff for the first season of House of the Dragon, and wrote the fourth episode of House of the Dragon’s first season, “King of the Narrow Sea.”
