The first reactions to Ms. Marvel are here, so the time has finally arrived for my favorite Marvel Comics hero to make her MCU debut! That’s right, Kamala Khan is about to embiggen on Disney+, and a gathering of journalists and reviewers have seen the first two episodes of the highly-anticipated live-action series.
Those lucky enough to have seen Ms. Marvel in action are swooning over the Spider-Man-like vibes of the character and how Kamala’s MCU presence feels like a breath of fresh air.
You can see many of the internet’s first reactions to Ms. Marvel below:
– The supporting cast is killer. Every member of Kamala’s family is great, their dynamic makes the show. I think Kamala’s friend Nakia will be a fan favorite.
– For people uncertain about her power change: Kamala’s insecurities are still represented through her powers.— Jack McBryan (@McBDirect) May 25, 2022
Summary:
I really really liked episodes 1 and 2. It is the coming of age story we all wanted this to be. I think the show sets up Kamala well to have a similar appeal and relatability as Peter Parker does; which could make Ms. Marvel a household name in the near future.

#MsMarvel’s first two episodes proved my hesitations wrong.
Iman Vellani is perfect for the role, and does a phenomenal job. She’ll quickly become an MCU favorite.
Her chemistry with Matt Lintz’ Bruno is also top notch.
So far, the series is great.

#MsMarvel is so much fun! A lot of it is slice-of-life based (nice to get the perspective of how regular people in the MCU view the superheroics going on around them). The question of how so many people know what happened in the Endgame final battle is also answered. 😆

The MCU in 2022 has been very dramatic and mysterious. Two episodes into #MsMarvel… a breath of fresh air!
It’s classic yet modern and charming as hell. Iman Villani as Kamala is the truth. Another home run casting.
I’m a sucker for a good high school series.@MCU_Direct

#MsMarvel is a delight! Many familiar coming-of-age tropes but executed w/ that Feige flair. Adore the stylistic choices, one of the more innovative MCU projects. And yes, Iman Vellani was born to play Kamala Khan. Not a game-changer, but you’ll walk away smiling. @MCU_Direct pic.twitter.com/glU7S5jNwp

While the MCU has dabbled in coming-of-age tales, #MsMarvel fully commits & breathes new life into the genre.
Easter eggs abound, but the real takeaway is the witty & genuine Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.
My top-tier MCU rankings have new competition. @MCU_Direct pic.twitter.com/WIaxFJfulm

I’ve seen the first episode of #MsMarvel and spoiler free – I love this show. It is everything I could have wanted. I say this a lot about our girl Kamala Khan, but I’ve literally never felt so seen. But like me… specifically. Iman Vellani is a DELIGHT. Put her in everything.

I watched the first two episodes of #MsMarvel & I can say it is DELIGHTFUL! The show feels fully rooted in the MCU to an extent we’ve never seen before and it’s so much fun. Iman Vellani is excellent as Kamala Khan—everything to do with her family is so good. Can’t wait for more! pic.twitter.com/zyE8esLaFz

I’ve seen the first two episodes of #MsMarvel! The series feels like a lighthearted departure from previous series; filled with clever editing, smart dialogue, and teenage woes. It doesn’t quite know what it is yet, but hopefully it’ll get there soon. Iman Vellani is fantastic. pic.twitter.com/f3WIufZaPW

#MsMarvel Ep1 and 2 are pure joy! Straightaway thrust you into her cartoonish fangirl world as she struggles with her identity being Pakistani-American. 🇵🇰 She’s excited to have powers but doesn’t know how to use them, ends up fumbling and embarrassed, It’s all very relatable. pic.twitter.com/x7kV0wj1aN

The #MsMarvel pilot episode caught me by surprise in the best ways. It’s as close as we’ve come in the MCU to comic book pages coming to life. It’s inventive, bright & a ton of fun. My strong feeling is that teens are going to fall in love with this show. I know my kids will. pic.twitter.com/axrmgPuzzt

As you can see, people have plenty of glowingly-positive things to say about the first two episodes of Ms. Marvel. Many praise Iman Vellani’s outstanding performance and the show’s clever editing and carefree attitude. Marvel has done coming-of-age stories before, though Ms. Marvel sounds like it takes a refreshing approach to the well-worn formula. Several reviewers also note the show’s pride in showing Kamala’s Muslim heritage, a bold new step for the MCU regarding representation.
Starring alongside Iman Vellani for the new series is Aramis Knight, the vigilante known as Red Dagger, Saagar Shaikh as Kamala’s older brother Amir Khan, and Matt Lintz as Kamala’s best friend, Bruno Carrelli. Zenobia Shroff and Mohan Kapur star as Kamala’s parents, with Rish Shah, Laurel Marsden, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Alysia Reiner, Fawad Khan, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, Alyy Khan, and Anjali Bhimani.
Here’s the official synopsis for Ms. Marvel:
Marvel Studios‘ ‘Ms. Marvel’ is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination — particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ on June 8, 2022, and will begin its theatrical release in Pakistan in June.
