The first expansion for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is on the horizon. Square Enix released a teaser trailer for Trials of the Dragon King, a DLC that will add several new areas and a host of additional weapons, jobs, and equipment to the base game. It’s one-third of the game’s season pass (which also includes Wanderer of the Rift and Different Future), and it releases on July 30 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

Trials of the Dragon King picks up directly after the primary campaign and features Jack’s team fighting against the titular Dragon King Bahamut. The teaser also showcases the Warrior of Light, the modern representation of the hero from the original Final Fantasy game and someone destined for a collision course with Jack.

The game’s other two DLCs are also forthcoming, but it doesn’t seem like we’ll get much word on when they’ll release until they’re almost ready to go. However, Producer Tetsuya Nomura did recently spill some details about these expansions, but those details were vague at best.

Stranger of Paradise may bear the Final Fantasy name, but it’s much different from the games that immediately come to mind. An action RPG with combat that borrows from the soulslike space, this over-the-top retelling of the first Final Fantasy found a different fanbase amid memes surrounding how much main character Jack hates chaos in all its forms.
