With the World Cup set to take place later this year, FIFA Ultimate Team (or FUT, as it is known), will feature FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes, which are special cards that will honor various legendary players in the history of the World Cup. Of those cards, 21 of them will feature unique illustrated designs from Marvel that replace the real-world player photos with reimagined Marvel Comics alter egos.

As shown in the gallery below, just nine cards have been revealed: U.S.A.’s Landon Donovan, Portugal’s Ricardo Carvalho, Italy’s Claudio Marchisio, the Ivory Coast’s Yaya Touré, South Korea’s Park Ji-sung, Uruguay’s Diego Forlán, Brazil’s Lucimar Ferreira da Silva (better known as Lúcio), Mexico’s Rafael Márquez, and Argentina’s Javier Mascherano.

Each player chosen for the FUT Heroes lineup will have two versions of their card: a base and the FIFA World Cup version. The base version will recognize a memorable moment throughout that player’s career, while the FIFA World Cup version will celebrate their specific contributions to their country’s team.

Base versions of the FUT Heroes will be available in the game at its launch on September 30, but those looking to collect the special, Marvel-themed cards will have to wait until November 11 when the FIFA World Cup FUT Heroes are introduced into the game. Those who pre-order the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition by August 21 will receive a FIFA World Cup FUT Hero item in the game when they are included, with the rest likely unlocking via packs or by challenges found in the game.
