[ad_1]

Michael Mann and Adam Driver’s new racing movie, Ferrari, officially has a release date.

According to Deadline, Ferrari will release Christmas 2023 from distributor Neon. Before that, the film will celebrate its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival — held Aug. 30 through Sept. 9.

Along with Driver, the Mann-directed Ferrari stars Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Jack O’Connell, Sarah Gadon, Patrick Dempsey, and Gabriel Leone. The script, written by Troy Kennedy Martin, is based on Brock Yates’ 1991 novel, Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine. Mann, P.J. van Sandwijk, John Lesher, Marie Savare, John Friedberg, Lars Sylvest, Thorsten Schumacher, and Gareth West all serve as producers.

“A biopic of automotive mogul Enzo Ferrari, whose family redefined the idea of the high-powered Italian sports car and practically spawned the concept of Formula One racing,” the description of the movie reads.

Ferrari Marks Director Michael Mann’s First Movie Since 2015

Ferrari marks Mann’s first time directing a feature film since 2015’s Blackhat, which starred Chris Hemsworth and was met with mixed reviews upon its release. The filmmaker did, however, serve as an executive producer on 2019’s Ford v Ferrari, which revolved around the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. Remo Girone took on the role of Enzo Ferrari in Ford v Ferrari, while Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Jon Bernthal, Caitríona Balfe, and Josh Lucas also starred.

Mann’s best-known films include 1986’s Manhunter, 1992’s The Last of the Mohicans, 1995’s Heat, 1999’s The Insider, and 2001’s Ali, among others. Additionally, Mann directed the first episode of HBO Max’s Tokyo Vice series, which aired in April 2022. He also co-wrote the Heat 2 novel alongside Meg Gardiner in 2022 and is currently working on adapting it into a film.

Ferrari races into theaters on Dec. 25, 2023.
