The White Lotus star F. Murray Abraham is apologizing after allegations of sexual misconduct came out and led to his departure from Mythic Quest.
Per a report from RollingStone, Abraham was fired from the Apple TV+ series following at least two complaints about his behavior on set. Originally, Abraham was warned after a first complaint and was told to keep his distance from some of the actresses. However, a second incident then came up, which forced Mythic Quest co-creator Rob McElhenney to let the veteran actor go.
Now, the 83-year-old actor has issued a statement clarifying his side of the story. Abraham says he only told jokes on set. However, he realizes that he upset his colleagues and says he has “grown” from the experience and hopes that they will forgive him for his behavior.
“This is a sincere and deeply felt apology,” F. Murray Abraham said in a statement. “Though never my intention to offend anyone, I told jokes, nothing more, that upset some of my colleagues and as a result lost a great job with wonderful people. I have grown in my understanding from this experience, and I hope they will forgive me.”
According to THR, The White Lotus Season 2 production team did not receive any reports or complaints about Abraham’s behavior.
