Netflix has been trying to build a franchise for years, and the Chris Hemsworth action thriller, Extraction, arguably gave them their first movie where a follow-up was a no-brainer. The sequel, which is currently filming, re-teams Hemsworth with director Sam Hargrave, as well as the Russo Brothers, who are doing screenplay and producing duties. While it’s too early for a trailer, Hemsworth recorded a greeting from the film set for Netflix’s Tudum Event, which you can see above.

Of course, the action looks sick, with Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake battling legions of adversaries in the snow, and includes the shooting of an insane sequence where a helicopter is landed on top of a moving train. No news yet on when it comes out, but I would expect the service to make it their big summer 2023 release.

In terms of franchises through, Netflix arguably bought themselves a killer one when they acquired the rights to make sequels to Knives Out. The first sequel, Glass Onion, just premiered at TIFF (read my review), and now Rian Johnson has premiered an early scene from the movie, which introduces our new rogues’ gallery, including characters played by Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Leslie Odom Jr., and more. As someone who’s seen the entire film, I can tell you – you ain’t seen nothing yet. This one is apparently getting a wide (ish) theatrical release in November before making its streaming premiere on December 23rd.

Are you excited for Netflix’s first two big sequels? Let us know in the comments!
