Emily Blunt has shared an update on the long-awaited Edge of Tomorrow sequel.

Blunt starred alongside Tom Cruise in the 2014 science fiction film. Cruise starred as William Cage (Cruise), who exploits his newfound time-loop ability with the help of Sergeant Rita Vrataski (Blunt) to fight aliens. Directed by Doug Liman, the ambitious actioner wasn’t a huge theatrical success. However, it eventually found its footing on home video. Since then, fans have wondered if a sequel is in the cards.

In an interview with Deadline, Blunt said, “Well, I would love to do another one. I don’t know when and I don’t know how, but I would love it. I don’t know if my back could take it.”

The film has been in various stages of preproduction for years. It was initially announced that Liman would return to direct the sequel, with Cruise and Blunt reprising their roles. The tentative sequel was titled Live Die Repeat and Repeat. However, the project remains at a standstill nearly ten years after the release of the original film.
