Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson

Warner Bros. pushed the release of Black Adam back by several months, with producer Hiram Garcia saying that the delay would give them more time to complete the significant amount of VFX shots. Reshoots for Black Adam are currently underway, and Dwayne Johnson shared a new photo on Instagram in full costume.

Intense week of production continues as we put the finishing touches on Black Adam,” Dwayne Johnson wrote on Instagram. “Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of playing some great (fun) characters over the years, but none speak to my DNA more than this antihero known as the man in black, Teth Adam.” The photo gives us a great look at all the nooks and crannies of the Black Adam suit, which clearly doesn’t need a lot of extra padding.

Black Adam has been a long time coming, but hopefully, the extra delay will be worth it. Hiram Garcia said that “there was a huge and understandable freeze-up when the pandemic hit and a lot of productions were put on hold. Now that the industry has really roared back, the pipeline for VFX is so jammed. Obviously all these superhero movies just require so much VFX, and we’re just in a situation where the majority of the VFX houses are just completely swamped with work.” Dwayne Johnson shared a new trailer for Black Adam at CinemaCon last month that got audiences pumped and recorded audio of the audience screaming for a battle scene in the film.

In addition to Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam is also set to introduce the Justice Society as Noah Centineo is onboard to play Atom Smasher, with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. Black Adam was originally set to hit theaters on July 29, 2022, but will now be released on October 21, 2022.
