Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson, new image

Dwayne Johnson is teasing DC fans with a new image of Black Adam along with the announcement that we’re getting a new trailer for the film next week.

Johnson took to Twitter to share the image along with a caption that read, “On June 8th, World Premiere Trailer of #BlackAdam #ManInBlack.” You can check out Johnson’s tweet below!

According to the synopsis, “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods – and imprisoned just as quickly – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Black Adam is a DC Comics character that started as the archenemy of Captain Marvel, later named Shazam! The character is an Egyptian prince who was chosen by the wizard Shazam! to be his champion until the power corrupted him. Due to that corruption, Black Adam was chained up and sealed away for millennia but is released in present times with a thirst for vengeance. The character received a more sympathetic back story in later comics that turned him into more of an anti-hero.

Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and, in addition to Johnson, the film also stars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, Pierce Brosnan, and Sarah Shai. Originally planned for release on July 29, 2022, the film was ultimately pushed to its current release date of October 21, 2022, to allow time for VFX to be completed.
