Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson, San Diego, Comic-Con, The Rock, DC Comics, San Diego Comic-Con

Dwayne Johnson is headed to San Diego and he’s bringing the Justice Society of America along with him. Johnson took to social media to reveal that his first-ever superhero movie, Black Adam, will be center stage in San Diego Comic Con’s Hall H.

In addition to bringing along the Justice Society of America, which includes Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell, and Aldis Hodge, director Jaume Collet-Serra will also be in attendance to talk all things Black Adam ahead of its October 21, 2022, release date. Black Adam’s panel at Comic-Con in Hall H will be on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in San Diego, California. You can check out Dwayne Johnson’s tweet about coming to Comic-Con below!

For those of you who aren’t aware, Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con is a big deal. It’s the biggest gathering of fans and press for the panels during the event and it’s saved for some of the more high-profile releases that are looking to build up hype and anticipation. To drive this home, the official Black Adam Twitter page also posted a nice teaser that announced the arrival of the film at Comic-Con. You can check out that post below!

San Diego Comic-Con will give the team behind the film another chance to get fans excited for what’s to come. I was lucky enough to attend a special trailer launch for the film last month with select members of the press and it also included a Q/A with Johnson, his producing partners, and director Jaume Collet-Serra. If they could get 20+ members of the press excited for this film, I can only imagine the hysteria that can be stirred up at Comic-Con in Hall H.

According to the synopsis, “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods – and imprisoned just as quickly – Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Black Adam is a DC Comics character that started as the archenemy of Captain Marvel, later named Shazam! The character is an Egyptian prince who was chosen by the wizard Shazam! to be his champion until the power corrupted him. Due to that corruption, Black Adam was chained up and sealed away for millennia but is released in present times with a thirst for vengeance. The character received a more sympathetic back story in later comics that turned him into more of an anti-hero. Black Adam is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and, in addition to Johnson, the film also stars Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, Pierce Brosnan, and Sarah Shai.

Will YOU be attending San Diego Comic-Con and the Black Adam panel in Hall H?
