The Sam Raimi-directed Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to reach theatres on May 5th, but before we get there an earlier adaptation of the Dr. Strange property is going to be getting a new release. Shout Factory has announced that they’re bringing the 1978 TV movie version of Dr. Strange to Blu-ray on April 26th – and since that date is so close, they’re already accepting pre-orders at THIS LINK!

Written and directed by Philip DeGuere, the ’78 Dr. Strange has the following synopsis:

THERE IS A BARRIER THAT SEPARATES THE KNOWN FROM THE UNKNOWN …

Enter a world filled with sorcerers, powerful supernatural forces and bizarre enchantments as the famed Marvel Comics superhero Dr. Strange comes to life to battle the forces of evil.

A modern hospital may seem worlds apart from the days of ancient sorcerers. But for psychiatrist Stephen Strange and his patient Clea Lake, this is where those worlds collide … and the nightmare begins! Nothing Stephen Strange learned in medical school could prepare him for an attack by an evil sorceress from the “fourth dimension,” Morgan le Fay, a villainess who plans an invasion of unimaginable evil on Earth. Chosen by an ancient guardian of the spirit world to learn the mystic arts to defeat Morgan and safeguard the Earth, Stephen Strange must take the place of the Earth’s last sorcerer. Come along for a fantastic adventure into the “fourth dimension” with … Dr. Strange!

It stars Peter Hooten (Orca) as Stephen Strange, Eddie Benton / Anne-Marie Martin (Sledge Hammer!) as Clea Lake, Jessica Walter (Arrested Development) as Morgan le Fay, Clyde Kusatsu (The Young and the Restless) as Wong, Philip Sterling (The Death of the Incredible Hulk) as Dr. Frank Taylor, John Mills (Swiss Family Robinson) as Strange’s mentor Thomas Lindmer, Michael Ansara (The Manitou) as the voice of the Ancient One, and Ted Cassidy (The Addams Family) as the voice of the demon Balzaroth.

Dr. Strange 1978 comes to Blu-ray with the following bonus features:
