Disney Dreamlight Valley looks to take parts of games like The Sims and Animal Crossing and sprinkle a layer of cartoon magic on top. In a new gameplay overview trailer released today, potential residents of the Valley got to see a host of fun activities they could take on alongside Scar, Ursula, Merlin, and a few other Disney characters. From fishing to cooking to gardening, there are a host of minigames to enjoy alongside a cartoon friend offering words of encouragement.

Of course, Dreamlight Valley is about more than just chilling with Moana on the open sea. The game sets players on a quest to quell “The Forgetting,” a wave of absentmindedness that has sapped the energy and memory of Disney characters the world over. Going on quests in underground caverns and at the far reaches of this mystical plane of existence might just bring color back to the realm and unlock more customization options along the way.

Disney Dreamlight Valley diehards may have already up to date on the game’s main quest, and what this most recent trailer truly brings to the table is an expanded overview of what players can expect when they’re not saving the world. The confirmation of a fishing minigame will bring joy to the face of many JRPG fans who wonder how Kingdom Heats has passed up on this golden opportunity for a decade. Meanwhile, fishing and gardening bring more Sims-esque lifestyle fun to the Disney adventure.

Disney Dreamlight Valley also offers item crafting and a full customization mode to forge unique versions of the game’s different areas. Players are not just limited to a simple homestead, as the trailer shows users customizing the town square and every other aspect of where Disney’s legends work and play.

Players on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch will be able to get a better look at the full game when it launches for free in 2023. However, it is also launching on September 6 in early access for Game Pass subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC or for anyone on any platform who purchases the founder’s pack.
