Before taking on the role of the Predator in Prey, 6’9″ actor Dane DiLegro had played a zombie on The Walking Dead, a “Muscle Monster” on Sweet Home, the demon Ba’al on American Horror Stories, a creature called The Dragior on The Quest, and an Alien Overlord in a Doja Cat video. Looking to the future, DiLegro says one character he would like to play is the iconic hockey masked slasher Jason Voorhees!

DiLegro shared his Jason aspirations during an interview with our friends at Bloody Disgusting:

When I moved to Los Angeles when I was hooked on only doing monsters, it was being a Predator and being Jason Voorhees. Jason Voorhees ties back even further into my childhood. I was him about four times for Halloween. That character is fascinating to me because he’s a big supernatural child, and his movements are minimalist and effective. I mean, just tilting your head a centimeter to the right tells a completely different story of this character, and being granted the challenge to create and tell a story through Jason’s eyes to the audience, non-verbally, would be so much fun. He’s huge. He’s menacing. He doesn’t give a shit. He wants to avenge his mom. I have no idea how I would go about even being considered for a role like that, but to have that opportunity would be astounding and an honor as well.”

The whole interview is an interesting look into what it took for DiLegro to bring the new Predator to life, so I recommend clicking over there and checking it out.

It’s nice to hear that DiLegro has so much love for my favorite horror icon, but before he can have the opportunity to play Jason there has to be the chance of another Jason movie even happening. The copyright lawsuit between original Friday the 13th director/producer Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller has come to an end, with Miller being awarded the copyright to the first film in the U.S., but Cunningham and Miller still have to reach an agreement with each other before any more Friday the 13th movies can be made without the threat of one of them filing another lawsuit over it. Producer Roy Lee, who was first rumored to be attached to produce a new Friday the 13th movie back in 2018, recently said we might be hearing an update about the movie’s chances by the end of the year, so we’ll have to wait and see.

What did you think of Dane DiLegro’s performance as the Predator in Prey? Would you like to see him play Jason Voorhees? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Prey is currently available to watch on the Hulu streaming service.
