Update: Chris Pine has been confirmed to be part of the upcoming Disney movie Wish. Pine will be playing King Magnifico in the musical comedy. The character is described as “the ruler of Rosas, a magical kingdom where wishes really do come true.”

“As the most powerful person in the kingdom, King Magnifico needed to be played by someone who could give all the charm, cleverness and charisma to this magnanimous character, and Chris is beautifully bringing all of that and then some,” said Jennifer Lee, Wish executive producer and one of the film’s writers.

Another big name has signed on to star in Disney’s upcoming animated feature, Wish. This time, it’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves‘ Chris Pine.

One Take News is reporting that the Star Trek star will play a “pivotal role” in the movie. Not only that, but the outlet has said that, while unconfirmed, Pine is expected to sing in the film as well.

Wish is an all-new story is set in the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha, an optimist with a sharp wit and a deep caring for her community, turns to the sky in a moment of need, and makes a wish,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Asha’s plea is answered by a cosmic force, a little ball of boundless energy, Star. Together, they will face the most formidable of foes to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars — wondrous things can happen.”

Wish is being directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn and stars Ariana DeBose, Alan Tudyk, and Chris Pine. The 62nd movie in the Disney Animated Canon is set to release on November 22, 2023.
