According to The Hollywood Reporter, English actor Cary Elwes (Robin Hood: Men in Tights) has joined the cast of Netflix’s forthcoming action sci-fi film Rebel Moon, which hails from Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder. The Princess Bride star will play the king of the galactic empire in the film, so expect a royal performance.

In addition, Golden Globe nominee Corey Stoll (House of Cards) has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role. The Ant-Man veteran is also known for portraying Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Michael Prince in Billions.  Also joining Snyder’s sci-fi pic are actors Michiel Huisman and Alfonso Herrera. Production is set to begin later this month.

“The film is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius,” reads the synopsis. “They dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand against the Tyrant.”

Described as a fantasy epic, Rebel Moon will be led by Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), Bae Doona (Sense8), and Ray Fisher (Zack Snyder’s Justice League). The film will be directed by Snyder from a screenplay he is co-writing with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder and Johnstad.

Additional cast includes Jena Malone (Goliath, The Neon Demon), Staz Nair (Game of Thrones, Supergirl), E. Duffy (Acid Noir, Girlfriends), Charlotte Maggi (MaveriX), and Sky Yang (Halo, Holding).

Rebel Moon will be produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Snyder for The Stone Quarry along with Grand Electric’s Eric Newman. Sarah Bowen will executive produce for Grand Electric.
