live-action Cal Kestis, Cameron Monaghan, Star Wars

Cameron Monaghan first played Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Set five years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, the game followed Kestis as he became a target of the Empire and found himself hunted by the Imperial Inquisitorius while attempting to complete his training, reconcile with his troubled past, and rebuild the fallen Jedi Order. The game was a major success, and a sequel was officially announced earlier this year. Given that the in-game character model of Cal Kestis looks identical to Cameron Monaghan, there have been rumours that the actor could play the role in live-action as well.

While speaking with Screen Rant, Cameron Monaghan confirmed that there has been interest in bringing Cal Kestis into the live-action Star Wars universe.

Well of course there’s interest. That’s about all I can say. [Laughs]

It’s too early to say where Cal Kestis’ adventures will take him, but with all the different live-action Star Wars projects in the works, there are many places where the young Padawan could conceivably turn up. Perhaps the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi? Or, if he lives long enough, maybe even meeting up with Luke Skywalker to help build Jedi Academy?

The Fallen Order sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, finds Cal Kestis beginning to feel the weight of being one of the last remaining Jedi in the galaxy as he must stay one step ahead of the Empire’s constant pursuit. Accompanied by his trusty companion BD-1, Cal will meet and ally himself with an array of unique and interesting characters on his journey. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being developed for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC and will be released in 2023. Would you like to see Cal Kestis make the leap to live-action?
