Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris on beloved series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is on the mend after experiencing a “cardiac incident.”

An Instagram post from this week provided an update for fans: “Nicky sends his love and wanted me to apologize that he hasn’t been going live as much lately and to give everyone an update. Nicky is doing fine now but he had to be rushed to emergency about two weeks ago because of a cardiac incident (tachycardia/arrhythmia).”

The post is accompanied by photos of Brendon in presumably sequential order: in an ambulance, resting in the hospital and bonding with his dog.

Other than playing fan favorite Xander, Brendon also appeared in 2000’s Psycho Beach Party, 2013’s Big Gay Love and a recurring role on MTV’s Faking It.

The 51-year-old actor has stepped back quite a bit from movies and television but that doesn’t mean his creative output has stopped. He is an accomplished artist who frequently posts photos of his acrylic paintings on social media. Brendon sells much of it on his online shop.

Through his tenure on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Brendon earned three Saturn Award nominations: two for Best Genre Actor and one for Best Genre Supporting Actor.

It was just announced that the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is “on pause”, although it should be noted Brendon’s health is not the cause.
