WarnerMedia and DC Entertainment invaded Hall H on Saturday morning at San Diego Comic-Con. Dwayne Johnson and his fellow Black Adam cast members unveiled an action-packed new trailer that introduced the Justice Society of America and the crowd definitely felt all of the energy.

The trailer starts with the discovery of Black Adam by mercenaries that he kills. They shoot at him; he catches a bullet and says, “your power is weak”. He then rips off their limbs and destroys the team while Sarah Shahi’s character, Isis, watches. Two choppers then show up to take him down, and he blows them up.

It then cuts to a quicker trailer with Black Adam in voiceover saying, “my powers are not a gift, but a curse born from rage.” They then revealed the JSA one character at a time, and the audience went completely insane for each reveal. This is how you unveil a new look at one of the year’s most anticipated comic book movies.

Before the trailer reveals, the Hall H event began with everyone in attendance wearing Black Adam lanyards that lit up before the panel was introduced. The lanyards featured the signature Black Adam bolt, which fired everyone up for what was to come.

Director Jaume Collett-Sera said they locked the film’s final cut yesterday and that the cast saw it before Comic-Con. Following this announcement, cast members Aldis Hodge, Noah Centino, and Quintessa Swindell were brought out on stage, and the man himself followed them: Dwayne Johnson.

When speaking about the film Johnson said, “it’s been over 10 years he’s been trying to make it and 5 years with Jaume. To be here in Hall H representing a superhero is great.” He then said he would bring movies here throughout his career and always wanted to bring this movie here, calling it a dream come true.

Jaume Collett-Serra describes the character as a Dirty Harry-type anti-hero who fights a broken system. He also said that movies like this are challenging because you always have to outdo the last one, but thankfully technology has advanced to make that possible.

Noah Centino described Atom Smasher as someone who comes from a complicated legacy of heroism and villainy. He’s trying to find his way and figure out what being a superhero is. Aldis Hodge was very hyped to be in attendance, and he said he’s a HARDCORE fan and is obsessed with the genre. Quintessa Swindell said that playing Cyclone was the biggest honor of her life so far, and then she started to cry. She seemed very moved by being in Hall H and the energy from the crowd.

Dwayne Johnson talked up his co-stars and said Pierce Brosnan, who plays Dr. Fate, sends his love to the crowd. He also said he was happy to see everyone walk on set because he felt they were each born to play their roles.

When it came time for questions, a child asked when Johnson got the role was Kevin Hart jealous. Johnson jokingly said yes, Kevin Hart gets jealous of everything, and he then told the very small kid that he was already taller than Kevin Hart, which got a big laugh from the crowd.

Another question was asked about who would win in a fight: Black Adam or Superman? Johnsons answered by saying don’t threaten me with a good time. He said it all depends on WHO is playing Superman and said he would leave it at that.

Black Adam hits screens on October 21, 2022.
